Skyrim – the key to freedom

Each of us is attracted and enticed by the word “freedom. Someone strives for it in every way and wants to fully experience it and live with it. Someone prefers to experience it from a distance, but at least to smell it. After all, when you’re free, you’re not limited to anything at all and can do all the things that others are afraid to even think about. Isn’t that a dream?

No, not a dream. What we call a dream, game industry developers have long represented in reality. Gradually, unobtrusively, trying their hand and stepping on a lot of “rakes”. But in the end: 11.11.11, with the appearance of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the very notion of “freedom” became more attainable to us, mere mortals. The advent of T.E.S. in general has opened up new horizons and views of the game. What was once fantasy is now reality. But… let’s go in order.

The plot
This time the plot unfolds quite tragically from the first minute. The main character, that is us, decides to cut off his head. The reason is not clear, but one thing is clear – there is a civil war going on in the city, and we obviously did wrong. But we are saved by chance – the city decided to attack the dragons, and the main character, in the turmoil, forget. As it turned out later, we still have to meet the dragons. And not only wave goodbye to them from afar, but also poke them in the eye with a sword. And why? It’s our role as the last dragon-born character, and only we can save Skyrim. In short, we’re heroes again, and again we have to save the world. Everything is simple, sad and banal.

Although, if you look around, everything is not so sad. Unceasing snowfall, mountains, dungeons, mammoths and dragons – a fairy tale brought to life. Just what is going on outside the windows right now on the eve of winter, but many times … more perfect. Melodious music plays in the background, and the surrounding expanse makes you relax with pleasure. And if it weren’t for the constant fiddling with the various beasts, birds, goblins, and all those dragons, it would be quite possible to meditate here. Why? The atmosphere is quite cozy. Plus, there’s the opportunity to get the home of your dreams, and without God-awful loans and mortgages.

But aside from the atmosphere, the creators have given us a free choice of … everything. You can experience everything you want, and not want. At the beginning of the game you choose your race, and then the whole game follows its famous principle: “You are what you do”. You can become anything you want, from a mage to a warrior. And “turn the corner” is always allowed. You can do all sorts of crafts and raise your level as your skills improve. Also in the game there are talents, of which there are about 300, designed for 50 levels. Although do not limit yourself to this figure, the game does not end there, and reveals itself in other colors.

What is nice – the game with every minute, with every victory you win, as if adapting to you. Dialogues are constantly changing, depending on your level, or … your species. If you fall ill and become a vampire or a werewolf, everyone around you will hint at this in every possible way. Quest here is no limit, they come up with literally on the fly. And if the plot quests, which is natural, and side quests. And you can not give preference to either the first or the second. Among the side stories can unfold no less, and maybe even more, exciting stories. And you never know where the next task will be. You can go around the whole game about 200 times, and only 201 will find there some kind of fascinating story, separate from the storyline.

In addition to the main action here will be possible to join a guild, to become a professional (though, at your request) thief, to exist a day werewolf, or try your luck as a vampire. And you can also create your own house, arrange it, and… get married. And the wife will sit at home, cooking dinner and faithfully waiting for you. And if you stay with her and take a break from fighting, your skills will improve. Isn’t that heaven?

Unsweetened Loaf.
Although in this paradise you can find a wormy apple. And in particular, the interface. Yes, it’s not the worst and you can even get used to it… by the end of the game. But do the creators really like it? As the Bethesda Game Studios team has always boasted that they create the games they like most of all. Is such an uncomfortable, something they like?

But… if you think about it, I guess this wormy apple was slipped to us for at least some variety. After all, when everything is perfect, when there’s nothing to complain about, it gets boring. And so we swear, yell, stomp our feet, but come back to the world of Tamriel again and again. After all, this game is one more on the list of the ones we want to come back to.
